BlueStar ranges are hand-assembled in Pennsylvania around a commercial-style open-burner design. Instead of the sealed burners on most consumer ranges, BlueStar uses star-shaped cast-iron burners that pull secondary air from around the flame, which is how they reach the 15,000 to 25,000 BTU output enthusiast cooks buy them for. That same design means the parts are serviceable rather than disposable, so a burner, igniter or valve issue is almost always a repair, not a reason to scrap a range that can easily outlast two ordinary stoves.
The heavy gauge steel, cast burner grates and simple mechanical valves are built to be taken apart and put back together. When we diagnose a BlueStar, we are usually restoring a specific component, not chasing a failed control board, and that is a big reason owners on the Front Range keep these ranges running for fifteen and twenty years.
The open-burner design that makes a BlueStar great is also where most service calls start. Spillovers and grease work down into the burner ports and spark igniters, so a burner that clicks but will not light, or lights slowly, is usually a cleaning, alignment or igniter job rather than a failure.
On the oven side we most often see weak or dead spark igniters, worn bake and broil igniters that glow but never reach the temperature that opens the gas valve, and thermostats or thermocouples drifting out of spec. Door hinges and the oven gasket also wear, and the dry Front Range air is hard on gaskets, which lets heat escape and throws off baking.

Cleaning and realigning the burner cap and drying or replacing the igniter typically restores it. If the clicking continues, the spark module or igniter wire may need service.

Our built-in Sub-Zero was keeping the freezer fine but the upper fridge zone was sitting around 55. Turned out to be the dual-evaporator setup, exactly what the tech guessed on the phone. Brian had the sealed system diagnosed the first visit, ordered the part, and had us back to normal within the week. He didn't try to sell us a new unit like the last place did.
One of the dual-stack burners on our Wolf range would click and click but never light. He mentioned it's common up here because the burners need to be calibrated for the altitude, which no one had ever told us. Relit perfectly after and he adjusted the others while he was at it.
Fixed our Sub-Zero the same week we called. Fair price, no upsell.
Our dual-zone wine cabinet had drifted so the bottom zone wouldn't hold temp and there was condensation collecting on the glass. They diagnosed it quickly but the part had to come from the manufacturer and took about four days, so we were without it for most of a week. Once it arrived the fix was solid and both zones are holding right where they should. Worth the wait, just be ready for the parts delay on these.
Miele dishwasher wouldn't drain, standing water in the bottom every cycle. Bad drain pump. In and out in about an hour and he cleaned out the filter housing that was part of the problem too.
The door gasket on our 15-year-old Sub-Zero had gotten brittle and it was sweating around the seal. New OEM gasket and it seals like new again. Appreciated that they used the factory part instead of some universal thing.
Thermador wall oven quit heating right before we were hosting. Called in the morning and they got someone out that same afternoon. Bad igniter. He had the part on the truck and we still made our dinner.
Ice maker in our Sub-Zero was making cloudy hollow cubes and barely any of them. He flushed the system, replaced a valve, and now it actually keeps up when we have people over. Nice guy, wore booties in the house without being asked.

Miele steam oven throwing an error and shutting off mid-cook. The tech was great and clearly knew the unit, but he ran about 40 minutes behind the window they gave me and I had to shuffle some things around. Fixed it in one visit though and it's been perfect since, so I'd still call them again.
Had them out for our built-in outdoor grill that wasn't lighting evenly. Didn't expect them to do outdoor units but they did and dialed it in for the altitude. Grilling season saved.
